• Bruno - possible Hovawart available for adoption

This incredibly handsome 2 year old Hovawart is looking for a country home. Bruno, or Boo Boo as he is known by his friends, is a big strong boy that weighs in at 90 lbs. Bruno's foster mom has fallen in love with him, but she realizes that Bruno loves the great outdoors even more then his squeaky ball and needs more exercise then she can provide for him in her small city apt. On a few occasions, Bruno had a chance to go swimming in a lake, an activity he adores, so a big water hole is a plus! Like all Hovawarts, Bruno is a working breed who thrives on both physical and mental exercise, and does best with extremely consistent, loving and well balanced training. Hovawarts are a strong dominant breed who need firm experienced owners. With proper leadership and good outlets for his energy, Bruno is a truly wonderful dog! He enjoys cool weather, long walks, hikes in the woods, swimming and a chance to run and play off leash with his friends. Determined, obedient, affectionate and alert, Bruno is also very loyal to his family and friends. He can be protective around strangers, but once he knows the strangers are ok, he's fine. He's also good with dogs (provided they are good with him) . He is relaxed and calm in the home and 100% housetrained. Bruno is neutered and up to date on his shots. Is Bruno really a Hovawart?

Here is Bruno’s background. Bruno was rescued from a shelter by Stray From the Heart and has spent the last year living with a wonderful rescue volunteer in New York City.  As much as she loves him, she has the good sense to recognize that he is neither a city dog nor a submissive personality and that he would be happier in a home with more property and a more “alpha” owner. As a shelter rescue, no one really knows what breed Bruno is, but two different people who own Hovawarts have met him and have told the rescue group that he appears to be a Hovawart. Upon researching the breed, they found that this information answered much about his personality, as his behavior matches the breed description. If your interest is in having a fine pet with the attributes of a Hovawart, Bruno may be the perfect dog for you.
